Dies Of Lung Cancer
- Cal Ripken Sr., who spent 36 years with the Baltimore Orioles,
died Thursday, March 26, 1999, of lung cancer. He was 63.
Ripken was a heavy smoker who would smoke in the dugout or on the field while
watching batting practice.
